Searching for the elusive Summer truffle in Sussex. I will show you what truffle woodland looks like,where to look and what tale tale signs to look out for to find our black diamonds of the earth; I will introduce you to truffle and fungi ecology focusing on the woodland community on the `Southdowns that we will be entering. I will endeavour to show you truffles, truffle mycelium, truffle flies and how to use them to hunt; I will show you truffle beetles, considered a truffle pest, animals truffle feeding platforms and signs of our wonderful animal competitors at work; I will teach you how to harvest sustainably and with respect to the community of invertebrates and all that depend on truffle within the food chain and the future generations of trees.
Delicious fresh soup and bread will be served for lunch with truffle of course - along other wild samples from our foray for you to taste. Please state any dietary requirements
