The First Summer Truffle and Mushroom Hunt of the Season

I will advise you on how to search for truffles, where to look and the tell tale signs to look for. I will show you what a truffle woodland looks like, explain the ecology and focus on the woodland community. I will endeavor to show you truffle flies and how to use them to hunt. We will search for truffle beetles (considered  the truffle pest) animal feeding platforms and signs of our wonderful animal competitors at work. I will teach you how to harvest sustainably and with respect for the community of invertabrate and all that depend on the truffle within the food chain and the future generations of trees.

We will be returning dried truffle to the wild using truffle trimmings not fit for human consumption after truffle prep and and cleaning. 

We will have a mushroom soup and some truffle tasters for lunch.
