The Secrets of Truffle Hunting

I will show you what a truffle woodland looks like, explain the ecology and focus on the woodland community. I will show you truffle flies, truffle beetles, feeding platforms and our wonderful animal competitors at work; I will teach you how to harvest sustainably and with respect to the community of invertebrates and all that depend on truffle within the food chain and future generations of trees.

We will be returning dried truffle to the wild using truffle trimmings not fit for consumption for the kitchen after truffle prep and cleaning. I feel it is my obligation to spread the truffle love for the next generation of trees, their communities and others to enjoy as much as I do.

Hot celeriac soup with fresh truffle and good bread will be had for lunch along with a couple of other wild samples for you to taste. Menus available on request. Please state dietary requirements.

Re photo John Craven will not be attending but it was a pleasure to take him out and show him all the above.
